Tuesday, September 4th                        PTO Mtg/Parent Information Night

                                                            6:50 PM – Social Hall

FAITH UNDER CONSTRUCTION

On Monday evening there was a little glitch while our construction crew was working to move some water lines.  They worked late into the night and early again on Tuesday morning to be sure we could be in session with no water problems.  As a precautionary measure, we did not have the students drink the water on Tuesday nor did we have our café cook with the water.  Our construction superintendent, Darren Williams of the Excel Construction, and his contractor, Rocky, personally purchased bottled water dispensers and bottled water for our use on Tuesday as an extra precaution.  We want to thank them for their care and extra concern to assure everything ran smoothly.

LABOR DAY OBSERVANCE

In observance of the Labor Day holiday, we will have NO SCHOOL on Monday, September 3rd.  School will be back in session on Tuesday, September 4th.

PARENT TEACHER ORGANIZATION (PTO) MTG

PARENT INFORMATION NIGHT (P.I.N.)

Mark your calendar for Tuesday, September 4th when we will have our PTO Meeting and Parent Information Night. We will start the evening with a brief PTO meeting in the Social Hall starting at 6:50 PM. Please bring the attached meeting agenda, and minutes from last meeting.   The treasurer’s report will be given out at the PTO meeting.

After the meeting, parents will be going to the classrooms to attend information sessions conducted by the teachers as part of Parent Information Night.  Homeroom teachers will run two consecutive information sessions.   These sessions last about 20 minutes each and will include discussions about curriculum, classroom procedures, and other grade level information.  Please keep in mind that this is an adult only event with no babysitting provided at the school.

BUDDY FAMILIES

If you have been assigned a Buddy Family please be sure to contact them and make arrangements for P.I.N.  Try to sit with your new family and introduce them to other St. James families so they feel welcomed.

OFFICE NEWS

School Fees

The second installment of school fees was due Friday, August 10, 2007, and the final payment for school fees will be due October 12, 2007.  Installments equal $88 for each student enrolled in Kindergarten through 8th grade. Please remit payment to the school office by tomorrow, Friday, August 31st, to prevent us from having to make reminder calls.

Newsletters

Today is the first day that we have sent out the newsletter via e-mail, if you had trouble receiving the information you have several options to remedy the situation.  If you do not have a readily available e-mail account, you can get the information from our school web-site,  which is located at www.stjames-school.org. or if that is not convenient, you can send a written request into the school office that you still need a hard copy of the newsletter sent and we will give the newsletter to the youngest child in the family for your use.

Please keep us informed of what your current e-mail address is to enable us to send out information in an efficient manner. If you need to change or update your  e-mail address we have on file, please send an e-mail message to karrie.snider@stjames-school.org.  Upon receipt you will get a return message back indicating that the updated information was received and will be changed on the master e-mail list.

SCHOOL DIRECTORY

At the beginning of each school year we create a school directory that will be distributed to each family for their use.  The directory provides street and e-mail address information for all the students in our school that has been derived from our school database.  In order for your contact information to be correct in the directory we need to know if you have made any recent changes to your e-mail/street address, or home phone number.

If you have made changes please call the school office by Friday, August 31st, as the directory will be printed next Tuesday.

8TH GRADE GIRL’S VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT

There will be an 8th grade girl’s volleyball tournament hosted here at St. James School beginning Thursday, September 6th and running through Sunday, September 9th.  Tournament t-shirts will be on sale at the PTO meeting held on Tuesday, September 4th.  Help support the 8th grade class by buying a tournament T-shirt for $10.00.  An order form is attached to this newsletter.

SCHOOL PICTURES

Lifetouch took individual school pictures of our students earlier this week and the picture orders will be received in approximately three weeks.  After that time, we will reschedule a picture retake day to have your photos redone if you were dissatisfied with your photos or if you were unable to have your photo taken on picture day.  Unwanted pictures will be returned in your photo envelope to the photographer on the day your picture is retaken. All students will need their pictures taken for the yearbook and their student identification card

EXTENDED CARE REQUESTS

As team sports begin, it is important to notify the school office or extended care if you as a parent are granting permission to your student to leave extended care for any amount of time in order to attend a practice scheduled after school for a team sport.  This is for the  safety of your child.  Please notify extended care if someone other than a parent, or someone you have listed on the emergency form, would have permission to sign your child out.

If you know of any changes in extended care plans that are a result of team practices please send your written instructions to the school office or extended care.  If changes in extended care plans arise during the school day for your child, you can call the school office and we will send the message down to extended care.  Thank you.

HEALTH ROOM NEWS

PTO NEWS

We still have several openings for head room parents, field trip coordinators, and general room parents for many classrooms.  The head room parent helps organize class parties and events with other room parents and assists the teacher in finding volunteers for class projects such as  the class auction item donation.  The field trip coordinator helps find volunteers to go on class field trips, etc. These tasks are not too time consuming, but are so important.  The classroom volunteers free up the teachers' time so they focus on their main objective, teaching our children.  Won't you consider volunteering?  Open positions available are as follows:
