Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) Meeting

Parent Information Night (P.I.N.)

Thanks to all the parents and staff who participated in the PTO Meeting/Parent Information Night on Tuesday.  Our staff appreciates the opportunity to grow in our partnership in the education of our students, as well as sharing time with families to review some of the exciting things we have planned for this school year!

Powerschool

Last week we transmitted the weekly newsletter via e-mail channels.  In addition, this week we will be posting the newsletter in the Powerschool system, using the school bulletin option. A flyer containing instructions for parental access to Powerschool was sent home this week, or received at Parent Information Night, along with a sealed envelope that informs the parent of the individual password for each student.  Password information is sealed to only allow parental access for viewing student’s records and correspondence from teachers. The password allows parents to view lunch accounts, homework assignments, grades, attendance, etc.  Please review the instructions in order to access your account successfully.

Newsletters

Newsletters will now be posted in the following order: First to individual e-mail accounts, next to the Powerschool system, and lastly to the school website.  If you are not receiving the newsletter on your personal account, check the e-mail address listed in the school directory.

The directory was derived from information obtained from our data base system, and if that information is incorrect please update it to ensure receipt of all school transmittals in a timely manner.  If you prefer to not use your family e-mail account, you can also get the information from our school website, or off the Powerschool system.  Our school web-site has the following address:   www.stjames-school.org.   If none of these paperless options will work for you, we can still send home a hard copy of the newsletter with the youngest child in your family, upon receiving a written request in the school office.  Finally, last week we noticed a glitch with specific email carriers that failed, even though we have your email correct.  So we thank you for keeping in correspondence with us when you do not receive it via email.

SCHOOL DIRECTORY

At Parent Information Night, parents received the school directory in the classroom of their youngest child.  If you did not pick up the directory, it will be sent home this week with your student.  The directory provides phone numbers, street and e-mail address information for all the students in our school that has been derived from our school database, and as such if you notice that any information for you is incorrect, please contact the school office to notify us of any corrections that need to be made.  Extra copies of the school directory can be purchased in the office for $2

8TH GRADE GIRL’S VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT

Tonight  will be the initial games of the 8th grade girl’s volleyball tournament hosted by our 8th grade class and held here at St. James School.  Games will run through Sunday, September 9th.  Come out and support our school and watch the 8th grade girls in the tournament!!  If you have purchased a tournament t-shirt you may wear it to school on Friday, September 7th to show support for our school team.  Go Saints!!!

CAKE AND PIE AUCTION

Mark your calendars for Saturday, September 15th!!! This is the date for the Knights of Columbus Spaghetti Dinner/Teacher Cake and Pie Auction in the Social Hall following the 5:00 PM Mass. Our 1st and 2nd graders will be performing with Mrs. Barron.  Please come out and enjoy their musical performance!! The teachers  and other kind donors will be having their homemade items auctioned off after the spaghetti dinner to benefit the Staff Professional Development Fund.  We are thankful for the support we receive in order to maintain excellent participation in professional development trainings and opportunities for St. James Staff.

MUSIC NEWS

This school year we will be offering many opportunities for students to participate in our music program at school.  The attached sign-up sheets offer a brief summary of what will be offered and can be handed in to register your student for the various programs.  Please take a minute to review the options with your child and decide what options to choice.  Please contact Mrs. Barron as soon as possible for planning purposes.
